Christmas is my favorite time of the year.
And it isn’t because I know I might get gifts.
I really could care less about them.
And I do know that Christmas is Christian holiday that celebrates Jesus' birth on December 25. Ive celebrated christmas all my life. But never for that reason.
I love christmas because from the start of december, christmas has arrived.
Beautiful lights are up on the streets, on the houses, and trees.
The cold breeze of LA hits my face with the smell of pumpkin spice,
cinnamon, candy canes, cranberries, apple pie, and fresh pine trees.
And although people get so stressed because they might not have the money to buy gifts this year.
To me it isnt about the presents, and the shopping, although I do admit its nice.
It is not the most important thing, to get your mom an expensive gold necklace, or your brother that motorcycle his been asking for, or your sister an Iphone 5, even though she just got the Iphone 4 three months ago.
And this I tell my mom, my brother, my sisters, and my boyfriend.
Christmas is about a family cooking together, sharing laughs, drinking hot coco next to a bonfire on the back yard, dancing crazy, making new memories, and sharing past memories.
Christmas is inviting the new friend you made that just moved to your city, because he couldn’t afford to go back home this year. Letting him know that your door is open, and a plate is served, so he doesn’t have to spend christmas alone with a tv dinner and tap water.
Christmas is baking cookies with your daughter or son for santa claus and shredding carrots for the reindeers. Singing songs about a fictional character that makes your son or daughter extremely happy and excited for this time of month.
Christmas is waiting all night by the christmas tree for santa claus and his reindeer to land at the roof of your house but somehow always falling asleep before you get to see him. Waking up with crumbs on the plate showing you that he did come, and finding a gift from santa claus to your name under the tree with a card saying "you have been a very good girl this year" -Santa Claus.
Christmas is taking the time to make the card you are giving to the people that you love with glitter, stickers, crayolas, and colorful paper.
Christmas to me is always going to be about unity, peace and love.
I am very excited for christmas this year, because I finally know what christmas is to me.
