Handshake: a short ritual in which two people grasp one of each other's like hands, in most cases accompanied by a brief up and down movement of the grasped hands.
Lately I have been meeting a lot of different people, so I have been shaking hands with most, and I have to say that a handshake can leave a lasting impression in a person. I have come to a list of handshakes that are either annoying, weird, or awkward.
- The Painful Shake This handshake is so strong that the only thing I can think of is Ouch. A strong hand shake doesn't mean "squeeze that persons hand as hard as you can to show them you are interested". Probably what will end up happening is that they will avoid shaking hands with you in the future.
- The Slippery Shake OMG! This is the most annoying handshake in the whole universe. As you reach to shake that persons hand and the reach to shake yours, your hands barely touch then as you try to grasp their hand it just slips like a snake because they have pulled away so quickly, you end up shaking their finger tips! This Shake is just wrong.
- The Kiss My Ring Shake Umm... Like... WTF. A person that does the kiss my ring way of shaking hand where its ready for the ring to be kissed. Its just awkward I always get confused on whether I should kiss it or shake it.
- The Eternal Shake There's nothing really wrong about this, but it does get pretty awkward. This is just when the hand shake goes on for too long, and you just want to get your hand back. Most of the time this shake comes with a deep stare into your eyes with out saying anything. Its awkward just thinking about it.
- Proper Handshake Its simple, reach out to the person with confidence grasp their hand fully with out squeezing too hard, but squeezing hard enough to feel that person hand. This should last about 5-10 seconds max if not it gets awkward.
A handshake is one of the most important things about meeting people, I believe that a handshake can leave a lasting impression on someone.
